Seeing that the alternative and indie music scene has simply been part of life to the majority of English speaking people since the early 80`s we decided to write the explanation in the Dutch language (lets face it if you weren't into indie music you wouldn't be here, it is a .NL website, and its also the language in which all these type of enquiries came from in the first place!) ... As for the purpose of AAPA: To prove to people in the Benelux region that you can be creative and actually make a difference within the alternative arts scene without receiving a single cent in sponsorship or subsidy! It has been said before: "Subsidy kills Creativity" (see also our previous article about the terrible state of the music industry in Holland - > HERE which should be expanded soon.) Also, you may like to know that everyone who contributes to AAPA is able to do so freely, often in a way that the major publications or music channels in Holland will probably not want to do who are more often than not in fear of upsetting their sponsors or losing their annual subsidy! But lets be honest; how independent is that? Finally, our passion is music, but we also try and cover cult cinema, photography and other alternative arts, while providing as many direct links to the artists or bands themselves (our My Space section gives an overview of who we think are cutting edge, exciting, unique, etc. It was not set up just to accumulate loads of so called "friends" like the majority of sites out there. Just look at the AAPA My Space site as a platform for all the artists who we think make a difference. It should therefore also go without saying that not all bands who want to link up will be accepted - So if you are one of those bands we rejected please don't throw a fit or start bleating just because we didn't add you! - Its all a matter of opinion ... OUR opinion.) - Also, we are not web designers and we do this all in our free time. So if you have any criticism about the layout of the AAPA website then all we can suggest is that you provide us with some tips or simply give us a hand? - As for reviews, if you disagree there is nothing stopping you submitting your own? This way everyone also gets to see how talented or knowledgeable you really are! ;-) | A | ||
