SOUNDTRACKS

This idea came as a result of our CULT CINEMA section when we quickly discovered that there were a lot of people out there who love or appreciate the influence of film music and original soundtracks.

Whether this is the music scored by present day composers, those who contributed towards the influential sounds of European Cinema in the 60’s & 70’s, or even the modern day compilation soundtrack made popular again in recent years by film makers like Quentin Tarantino who have also helped to revive an interest in former musicians or composers, we will offer as much info as possible or at least try and point you in the right direction.

Soundtracks have also had a major impact in recent years with albums by the likes of AIR, Portishead, Moby and Goldfrapp where the music they’ve created being prime examples of artists being very much influenced by film music.









We will also try and give you a more in depth view on composers like Ennio Morricone (spaghetti westerns, The Mission, Casualties of War & The Untouchables), John Barry (Dances with Wolves, most James Bond films, Out of Africa & Midnight Cowboy) or Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor & Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence) to name just a few.

This section is therefore dedicated to those composers (some of who are no longer with us) who most definitely helped shape generations of musicians and should provide a more in depth view to the soundtracks by many prominent and influential composers of film music (past & present) which includes John Barry, Eric Serra, Ennio Morricone, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Vangelis, Lalo Schifrin, James Horner, Nico Fidenco, Jerry Goldsmith, David Arnold, Luis Bacalov & Maurice Jarre with hopefully many more to follow…
