IN THE CITY - The international music convention
This years annual international music convention will once again take place in Manchester - IN THE CITY 2007 (20th - 22nd October) is quite simply the biggest city based music festival in Europe. The annual meeting point for key labels, publishers, lawyers, agents, technology companies and media, ITC delegates attend from all corners of the globe to network, debate, party and set the music industry to rights. And during the evening, 2,500 industry delegates and over 100,000 music fans head out for In The City Live: as a mass of new music-makers take over the city of Manchester. It’s music and it’s also business, where since its invention 16 years ago ITC has helped launch the careers of RADIOHEAD, BJORK, BABY BIRD, SUEDE, DOVES, FOO FIGHTERS, MUSE, SNOW PATROL, and many, many more! - In addition, ITC has also built up a reputation as the world’s best unsigned music event which has the highest signing ratio of any new talent event in the world. Over the years they have been responsible for discovering unsigned bands like Oasis / Elastica (1992), Drugstore (1993), The Chemical Brothers / Placebo / Kula Shaker (1995), Daft Punk (1996), Coldplay (1997), The Subways / The Longcut (2004) and Arctic Monkeys (2005).
IN THE CITY 2007
This year more than 500 bands will be playing at various venues across the city over the weekend - The bands that made an impression at this years event, and ones to watch out for in the future, include: The Beep Seals, Twisted Wheel, The Rascals, Air Cav, The Ting Ting's, The Fusiliers, Sky Larkin, Look See Proof, Kathryn Edwards, Does It Offend You, Yeah, Silverfall and Red Vinyl Fur. There were also some really impressive gigs over the weekend in Manchester by some of the more established and upcoming bands like LCD Soundsystem, Reverend And The Makers, The Human Value, and a joint gig by The Courteeners & The Wombats.

Founded in 1992 by Yvette Livesey and Anthony Wilson, IN THE CITY is the date in the music industry calendar. By day, Manchester becomes home to the brightest and best in the business, as industry leaders debate the present and plot the future. And by night, Manchester hosts the biggest city-based music event in Europe, as the bands and fans take to the streets. Rightly regarded by the global music community as the premier new music event in the world...
Nick Rhodes tribute to Tony Wilson
Tony Wilson, the record label supremo behind Factory Records (Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays), broadcaster, and co-founder of IN THE CITY died on 10th August 2007 after a battle with kidney cancer. See previous announcements under our news section from August 2007

Bands taking part from outside the UK: (July 2007)
Submissions for this years event will be through Sonicbids and are open to ALL artists worldwide - closing date is 31st August 2007 - There are three slots reserved specifically for Sonicbids artists from outside the UK. The three bands that are selected to play will receive $1000 USD to help cover travel costs (half paid upon proof of travel arrangements to In The City; the other half paid after the artist performs).
