FOR TIPS ON RECENT ALBUM RELEASES GO TO
NOVEMBER - 2006

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE have confirmed details about their next single - "Famous Last Words" will be released early 2007 and is to be taken from their recent album "The Black Parade" (Reprise). It will proceed a tour of which UK dates in March include: Brighton Centre (21st), Birmingham NIA (22nd), Manchester MEN Arena (24th), Cardiff Arena (25th), Nottingham Arena (26th), Glasgow SECC (27th) and London Wembley Arena (29th & 30th). Live dates in the Benelux region may follow.
EUROSONIC (11th & 12th January) & NOORDERSLAG (13th January) Festival - The line-up for this annual 3 day event in Groningen has now been announced, with a few bands worth checking out, although at the same time it has to be said that the majority of bands selected aren't exactly ground breaking or even original. Still, at least it gives music lovers up in the very north of Holland a chance to see new bands performing in their area. Our recommendations would be Shit Disco (GB), About (NL), Larrikin Love (GB), Hot Club de Paris (UK), Peter, Bjorn & John (S) and Mumm-ra (UK). There is more info on ABOUT under our Latest News section (October), while SHIT DISCO and HOT CLUB De PARIS have previously been included in our Monthly Playlists . You can also listen to selected tracks by going through AAPA My Space.

NEW RELEASES: Both AIR and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE QUEEN have announced the release dates for their new albums in 2007. AIR will be releasing "Pocket Symphony" as the follow-up to "Talkie Walkie" (2004) on 6th March 2007 - The album was produced by Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich and also includes vocals from Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) and will be dominated by Asian classical instruments. The self-titled debut album from THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE QUEEN will see twelve new recordings, including recent single "Herculean" (see more info under LATEST NEWS from October) by Parlophone on January 22nd 2007. Five days later, they will then head out on their first tour. You can also go through AAPA My Space to check them out.

As THE FUTUREHEADS are about to embark on their UK tour we hear from BBC 6 that they have now parted company with 679 Recordings (part of the Warner Group) although there appears to be some confusion as over in the states they have been on the Vagrant label for ages having left Warners some time ago who hadn't really done that much to promote their album. When interviewed, Barry Hyde said that he couldn't be happier, explaining: "I'm over the moon about it to be honest with you, 'cos I feel like we're free now. We weren't happy as a band on that label ... It's good to get out of the shackles of being tied down to something." THE FUTUREHEADS played a storming set here in Holland last Thursday as part of the Crossing Border Festival (go HERE for a full review under CONCERTS/GIGS) - They have also joined forces with FIELD MUSIC, Golden Virgins and Kathryn Williams to form a new band called THE JOSEPH & MARY CHAIN for a Christmas album with a version of 'The Twelve Days Of Christmas'. This track will appear on a compilation LP "It's Not Like Christmas", of which all the profits from the album sales will go directly to support the work of the charity Shelter. And on the subject of The Warners Music Group and their 679 Recordings label it looks like someone there really hasn`t got a clue? - Apart from the fact that 679 artists rarely get any decent press (no budget?) the Warners label itself is also a bit suspect! - Take multiple grammy award winning artist MARIA RITA as a current example (see also our ALBUM REVIEW under June 2006 for more info on this fantastic talent). Earlier this month (November 2006) Maria Rita won another grammy award for her 2nd album "Segundo" (2005) which follows the success of her self titled debut album from 2003 that also won her awards galore, yet both albums only get released on Warners Brothers Brazil and are therefore only available over here, or anywhere else in the world as imports - Now where is the business sense in that I ask you?
- MARIA RITA - amazing singer on Warners (see above article!)

Two of the bands who are set to play at the London Calling event next weekend (24th & 25th November) in Amsterdam have new singles out. You have to feel a little bit of sympathy for OASIS, because just when they thought it was time to release their "Best Of" collection along comes original Beatles producer George Martin with an entirely new production of Beatles classics which are both set to be released on the same day! - The much anticipated "Love" album by THE BEATLES will be released on 20th November (EMI in Europe - Capitol Records in the USA) while "Stop The Clocks" by OASIS will be released through their own Big Brother label.
