FOR TIPS ON RECENT ALBUM RELEASES GO TO
SEPTEMBER- 2009

THE FUTUREHEADS (photo) are set to return early next year with a brand new album, which has been recorded with David Brewis of Field Music. They are expected to be out touring again towards the end of this year, and are set to appear at two upcoming festivals. On Sunday 4th October they are to headline the Split Festival in Sunderland, which also includes the welcome live return of FIELD MUSIC - Then on Thursday 5th November they are to be one of the headline acts at Dubai Sound City, which has been described as “The Worlds Hottest Winter Music Festival”, and is set to take place between 5th & 7th November In Dubai, along with appearances by Doves, Echo & The Bunnymen, Happy Mondays, The Human League, The Courteeners, The Wombats & The Whip - You can find out more and listen to selected songs by going through AAPA MySpace to their own sites.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND have announced details of their second album, which is the follow up to their 2008 self titled debut - "Contra" will be out early next year on 12th January through XL Recordings. You can find out more info by going through AAPA MySpace to their own site.

MAPS (aka James Chapman) will release his second album "Turning The Mind" (Mute) on 28th September,which is the follow up to his Mercury Music Prize nominated album "We Can Create" (from 2007) and this will coincide with a 15 date UK tour in October and early November. The album is preceded by the single 'I Dream Of Crystal' which is out on 14th September. James Chapman describes his new album as "an album which explores themes related to the human mind and the way certain stimuli, particularly chemical, can affect the mind in different ways. The tracks for this album never seemed to stop flowing from the day I began working on them, it is a true statement of Maps' music at this precise moment." Back in 2006, MATTHEW SWEET and former Bangles singer SUSANNA HOFFS released their first collaboration "Under The Covers Vol. 1", which was a collection of cool songs that had originally been released by other artists during the 50`s. Their follow up release "Under The Covers Vol. 2" (on the Shout Factory label) came out during the summer, and this new album features covers of songs from the 1960's and 1970's including those from the likes of Tom Petty, George Harrison, Mott The Hoople, John Lennon, Carly Simon, and Fleetwood Mac. Later this month THE HORRORS (photo) are one of the bands who are in the running for the annual Mercury Music Prize with their recent album "Primary Colours". We now hear that Damon Albarn (Blur / Gorillaz) was so impressed with their album that he has since asked them to appear on the forthcoming GORILLAZ album which is due out next year, and has mixed their next single, a new track called 'Whole New Way'. MASSIVE ATTACK are back with a brand new four track EP entitled "Splitting The Atom" (Virgin) which will be released on 5th October and follows their 8 date UK tour in September.
