2008 - the year so far ...

SEPTEMBER - 2008

On 10th November, a brand new double album entitled "Death of the Neighbourhood" will be released on Atic Records - The man behind Death of the Neighbourhood is Stephen Jones (who most people will probably know during the late 90`s as BABY BIRD - one of the most prolific and original songwriters the UK has ever produced.) In fact, he once sold two million records, with his early BB albums going to Number 1 in the UK Indie charts along with nine UK Top 40 singles. This DOTN release is described as a stunning mix of fucked up vocal distortion, tear-in-the-eye ballads and evocative, string laden instrumentals, which ends up delivering an electronic punk album, a two chord manic maniac messianic monster throttling death by the neck before giving it the kiss of life and making MUSIC, "the most beautiful fucking thing in the goddamn world"! We therefore suggest you seek out your own copy! More info (including several tracks from the album) can be found at: http://www.myspace.com/deathoftheneighbourhood

This year the annual IN THE CITY music event will take place in Manchester from 5th to 7th October 2008 - ITC was founded back in 1992 by Tony Wilson (Factory Records) and Yvette Livesley, and has since become the largest, city-based live music event in the world and, in addition to hosting 'In The City Unsigned’ and 'In The City Live’, is the place for UK and International labels to showcase their artists. On average more than 100,000 people attend ITC live events to see over 500 live bands and presentations from the coolest indie labels to sophisticated showcases from the world's most successful record companies.
