FOR TIPS ON RECENT ALBUM RELEASES GO TO

Only a week after entering the UK singles chart at number 1 with 'That`s Not My Name', THE TING TINGS did the same with their debut album "We Started Nothing" (Columbia / BMG) which was released throughout Europe on 19th May and entered the UK Album Charts at number 1 last Sunday after having sold the most amount of albums in one week. The album cover (see photos) differs though depending on which country you are in. - The indie pop 2-piece from Manchester are rumoured to be appearing at the Lowlands Festival later this year. As previously reported, THE FUTUREHEADS eagerly awaited new album "This Is Not The World" (Nul Records) will be out next Monday (26th May), and we have just heard that on the MTV2 website you can now already listen to the entire album! - THE FUTUREHEADS are also one of the bands set to appear at this years Music In My Head Festival in The Hague (Den Haag) on Saturday 14th June. CSS have unveiled the artwork for their second album "Donkey". As previously reported earlier this month (see below), the album will be released on 21st July. For those still new to the band, CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy), are an indie band from Sao Paulo (Brazil) and their music is a mix of electronic, indie and pop. You can already download the track 'Rat Is Dead (Rage)' for free from their own website at: http://www.csshurts.com/ - Their self titled debut album was released back in 2006 through the Sub Pop label.

New Singles: PORTISHEAD are to release 'The Rip' as their next single on 9th June - It is the second single to be taken from their recent album "Third" (Island), while PANIC AT THE DISCO (photo) are set to release 'That Green Gentlemen' as their new single, which is be taken from their recent album "Pretty Odd" (Fueled By Ramen / Warners) that came out in March. New York based indie band FIVE O`CLOCK HEROES will have their new album out on 30th June - "Speak Your Language" will be preceded by the single 'Who' that features guest vocals by supermodel Agyness Deyn (photo) which is set for a June 23rd release. Agyness Deyn (real name Laura Hollins) appears to be everywhere these days! Apart from having taken over from Kate Moss as everyone's favorite model, the girl from Manchester also appears to be in the process of setting up her own band - GENE JACKET - in which she sings and plays guitar, and when recently interviewed by UK music mag NME said “We’ve got three or four songs, we wrote a really cool song called 'Hotel' ... It sounds like The Vaselines, maybe like Animal Collective. Just sounds, experimenting with stuff." Leading up to releasing an as yet untitled brand new album in September (their 13th studio album), THE CURE will be bringing out a new A and B-side single on the 13th day of the next four months. While details of the July and August releases will be announced shortly, the May single will be 'The Only One' (b/w 'NY Trip'), while June brings 'Freakshow' (b/w 'All Kinds of Stuff'). The album will then follow on 13th September.

As previously mentioned back in March, THE SUBWAYS are set to return with a brand new album in June. They also have a new single, 'Alright', out on 16th June. Their critically acclaimed debut album "Young For Eternity" was released back in 2005 on Infectious Records (2006 in USA on Sire Records) - You can read our review from November 2005 in our ALBUM REVIEWS section. Their second album "All Or Nothing" (Infectious) is set to be released on 30th June. You can also listen to some of their new songs by going through AAPA MySpace to the bands own site.

THE LODGER, the indie pop band from Leeds, who were first featured by AAPA back in 2006, have a brand new single out. 'The Good Old Days' (Bad Sneakers Records) is released on 7" vinyl and as a download, and precedes their second album "Life Is Sweet" which is released worldwide on 19th May through Slumberland Records.

Music In My Head, the annual indoor festival, will take place this year at the Paard van Troje venue in The Hague (Den Haag) on Friday 13th & Saturday 14th June. The line-up this year includes THE FUTUREHEADS (photo), SUPERGRASS, TOKYO POLICE CLUB (who have just released a new album entitled "Elephant Shell"), THE CHARLATANS and SINEAD O`CONNOR. Tickets are 25 Euro per day, are on sale now, but are selling fast! More info can be found in our GIG LISTINGS section. Following up on their very popular debut album "Costello Music" (2006), THE FRATELLIS are back with a brand new album! - "Here We Stand" (Island) is out on 9th June and includes current single 'Mistress Mabel' which was included in our PLAY LIST for May. The trio from Glasgow were first featured by AAPA over two years ago and you can read our article about them (from April 2006) in our NEW BANDS section.
    
NEW ALBUMS: On Monday 19th May, THE TING TINGS are finally set to release their debut album "We Started Nothing" (Columbia / BMG), and DRESDEN DOLLS release their new album "No Virginia" (Roadrunner), while a week later on Monday 26th May, THE FUTUREHEADS return with their third album "This Is Not The World" (Nul Records), PIGEON DETECTIVES release their second album "Emergency" (Dance To The Radio), and then on 2nd June, EMI get to release a 2 CD version entitled "The Best of Radiohead" without the approval of RADIOHEAD

Time to Ride the Donkey! - CSS will be releasing their second album on 21st July - "Donkey" (Sub Pop) was produced in Brazil by the band’s own Adriano Cintra and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent (whose previous credits include Massive Attack, Madonna, Bjork and Arcade Fire), and comes two years on from their critically acclaimed debut "Cansei de Ser Sexy". Their new album is being described as tough, street-ready, and recreates the frenetic energy of their live shows.

HOT CLUB De PARIS have announced details of a brand new album - "Live At Dead Lake" is out on 16th June and is the follow up to "Drop It 'Til It Pops" which came out in 2006. The new album will be preceded by the single 'Hey! Housebrick' (photo), and they will be touring extensively across the UK during May and June. GLASVEGAS will be releasing a new single on 23rd June - 'Geraldine' will be available on CD, download and on two limited edition 7" vinyl singles through Columbia Records. The hotly tipped band from Glasgow will also be touring the UK in June as well as appearing at various festivals this summer, including the Great Escape Festival and Glastonbury, while also performing at the Sound City event in Liverpool. THE KILLS are set to release 'Last Day Of Magic' as their next single on 16th June. It will be the third single to be taken from their recent album "Midnight Bloom", which had previously seen the songs 'U.R.A. Fever' and 'Cheap and Cheerful' released as singles. They will be appearing at various European Festivals during the summer.
