EDITORS v INTERPOL part 2 ... As previously mentioned (see previous article in our MUSIC NEWS 04 - 2007 section), EDITORS are back with their 2nd album "An End Has A Start" (Kitchenware) on Monday 25th June, while on Monday 9th July INTERPOL are set to release their brand new album "Our Love To Admire" (Matador). The artwork is now available for both albums ...
    
NEW ALBUMS: On Monday 4th June, MARILYN MANSON is back with his brand new album "Eat Me, Drink Me" (Polydor), while a week later on 11th June QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are set to release their new album "Era Vulgaris" (Polydor). Then on 18th June SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO will release their debut album "Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release" (V2), and ART BRUT will be releasing "It's A Bit Complicated" (Mute / Downtown) on 25th June, while as previously mentioned (see below) on Saturday 9th July SMASHING PUMPKINS get to release their new album "Zeitgeist" (Warners)

To all those who were disappointed in April when ARCADE FIRE were forced to cancel both their Benelux concerts at the last minute due to illness, the Canadian band are set to play in August at the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium and also at the Lowlands Festival (NL). Other acts confirmed for Pukkelpop include The Smashing Pumpkins, LCD Soundsystem, Kings Of Leon, Shitdisco, CSS (Cansei de ser Sexy), Enter Shikari and Tokyo Police Club.

Promising Dutch act ABOUT are set to play at the Budapest Wunderground event at Amsterdam`s Melkweg on Thursday 14th June, will be playing at the Virus Festival (Eindhoven) on 3rd June and are one of the main attractions at the annual Festival de Beschaving in Utrecht on Saturday 1st September. The 1990s released their new single "See You At The Lights" on 16th April and then this coming Monday, 14th May they will release their debut album "Cookies" (Rough Trade) which was produced by Bernard Butler (Suede) - The band from Glasgow are also set to play various gigs in Holland in June - Go to our Benelux GIGS section for more info.

On Friday 7th July, PJ HARVEY will be performing an intimate solo show at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester as part of the international festival, comprising songs from her back catalogue alongside new material. This promises to be an intense and unique performance by one of the world’s most influential artists. In addition to her only UK show she will also be one of the main artists at the Summercase festivals in Madrid and Barcelona on 13th & 14th July.
- KAISER CHIEFS will be releasing their new single "Everything Is Average Nowadays" (B-Unique) on Monday 21st May. It will also include the track "I Like To Fight". They will be playing 2 gigs in Amsterdam at the end of May.

One for your diary / agenda:: It looks like there will be a Morrissey / The Smiths night in Nijmegen on Friday 22nd June. Doors are from 21:30 and it is expected to run until around 5am! The evenings event will be called "How Soon Is Now?" and the venue address is: Hertogstraat 13, Nijmegen. It was Twenty-five years ago this month that Morrissey and Johnny Marr formed The Smiths. Since then they have gone onto become one of the most influential indie bands the world has ever seen.
- On Friday 4th May the BBC return with a brand new series of "LATER ... with Jools Holland" - Arctic Monkeys, CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy) and Bryan Ferry will all be playing live on the first show, with Travis and Candie Payne (see also our NEW BANDS section from February 2007) appearing a week later on Friday 11th May, followed by LCD Soundsystem and Bloc Party on later shows during May. The programme usually starts on BBC2 at around 23:30 hours (UK) time, so will be on from just after half past midnight Dutch time!

CONTROL, the forthcoming film about Ian Curtis, will be premiered on 17th May at the Cannes Film Festival this year, ahead of its general release around September 2007 (although the French cinematic release date has since been set for 26th Sept). The biopic follows the life of the late Joy Division singer who took his own life in 1980 and it was directed by Anton Corbijn. The premiere will take place on 17th May and will also be attended by members of New Order and Depeche Mode - There will also be a one minute silence in respect of the influential vocalist. The SMASHING PUMPKINS will release their new album on 7th July 2007 (or 07.07.07) "Zeitgeist" is expected to be released via Warners/Reprise. They will play their first live performance since 2000 during a "very special and intimate" theatre show to take place on 22nd May, in Paris, France. The album was produced by Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain, along with Roy Thomas Baker (Queen) working on various tracks. After the Paris show, The Smashing Pumpkins will headline major European festivals which will include Holland’s Pinkpop festival, and then during the summer at the Leeds and Reading Festivals over in the UK.
