NICK CAVE will be performing 2 solo gigs in The Hague on 18th & 19th September at the World Forum Centre (used to be known as the NCC) - Tickets go on sale from 10am this Saturday (3rd June). NL VERSION: NICK CAVE geeft op dinsdag 19 september een extra concert in het World Forum Center (voorheen het Ned. Congres Centrum) in Den Haag. Voor het concert van maandag 18 september zijn slechts nog enkele kaarten verkrijgbaar. De voorverkoop voor dit extra concert begint aanstaande zaterdag (3 juni) om 10.00 uur.

We have received info that on Friday 26th May PJ HARVEY performed a solo gig at the Hay Festival in Wales, where she also gave the lucky ones who were gathered there the very first plays of two brand new songs (The Mountain & Bitter Little Bird) which are to appear on her as yet untitled next album. Polly Harvey was by all accounts in stunning form. - More news to follow...

MOLOKO are set to release a collection of their most popular songs from their previous 5 albums (since 1995) on 26th June.

SANDI THOM is the latest singer songwriter to emerge from Scotland just like KT TUNSTALL did towards the end of 2004. She currently has a single out - "I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (with flowers in my hair)" which will be followed with the release of her debut album next week (5th June) on the BMG label - For more info see our NEW BANDS section... or go direct to article - > HERE
We have received news that ROXY MUSIC are to record a brand new album this year which should then be released in 2007. This will be their first album since Avalon (1982) and it is rumoured that it will once again involve Brian Eno!

BOARDS OF CANADA were due to release a brand new EP on 5th June - "Trans Canada Highway" is available on Warp Records but the release date has now been brought forward to Monday 29th May.
NEW ORDER have announced live dates for 2006!

They will headline an event in Liverpool (GB) on 8th July, followed by a GB tour later in the year:
Newcastle Academy (11th October)
Blackpool Empress Ballroom (16th October)
Glasgow Academy (18th October)
London Wembley Arena (27th October)
Wolverhampton Civic Hall (29th October)
Tickets for the October gigs go on sale at 9am (UK time) on 26th May
Meanwhile New Order will release a live DVD, taken from concerts during 2005 in New York and London, which will be out on 19th June.

Monday 22nd May 2006: was pleasantly surprised to catch a live studio performance by former indie favourites SUEDE last night until I realized that it was part of a BBC comedy show (This Is Dom Joly) which was being broadcasted for the first time on Dutch television (NL3)?! - In it SUEDE performed 2 songs ("Trash" & "Astro Girl") to promote their new singles album (Nude Records) but the only problem here is that this album came out in 2003 ... better late than never I suppose!?!

16th May 2006: Due to phenomenal demand INSPIRAL CARPETS have had to add a second date to their Tokyo Project event in Oldham (GB) in June. They will now play for 2 consecutive nights on Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th June. More info can be found below...

DEPECHE MODE are to release a double A-sided single on 5th June. 'John The Revelator'/'Lilian', will be the 4th release to be taken from their recent album 'Playing The Angel' and is available on Mute Records. A live DVD featuring performances from their current tour is due for release around September 2006. AAPA had already tipped the song 'Lilian' back in March (see below for previous article on DM) and it was also included in the AAPA monthly playlist for April - click HERE for PLAYLISTS

We have received news that although currently touring Europe, the new RADIOHEAD album will not be released in 2006. However, singer Thom Yorke has confirmed the track listing for a new solo album - 'The Eraser' will be released on 10th July on the XL Recordings label.

'The Eraser' will include the following tracks

03 the clock
04 black swan
05 skip divided
06 atoms for peace
07 and it rained all night
08 harrowdown hill
09 cymbal rush
please note that Thom Yorke insists that he has not left RADIOHEAD. Their new album is now expected to be released early 2007

We hear that LOU RHODES, the former singer with Mancunian Drum & Bass outfit LAMB will be doing several solo gigs over here in June to then return again at the end of September to appear at a festival in Rotterdam. You can catch her at the Amsterdam Paradiso on Thursday 22nd June and at the Effenar in Eindhoven on 23rd June. See also our GIGS & FESTIVALS 2006 section
Two of the bands that appeared at a recent LONDON CALLING event in Amsterdam have already split up. CLOR (who we thought showed promise) and TEST ICICLES (no comment!) had both released albums and their gigs in Amsterdam on 5th November last year were reviewed. All Gig reviews can be found

The RADIOHEAD gig on 10th May at Amsterdam HMH was cancelled at the last minute due to unforseen circumstances
The rescheduled date is now: Monday 28th August.

EDITORS have a new single out on 19th June. "Blood" will be the final single to be taken from their 2005 debut album "The Back Room" and will be available on Kitchenware Records/PIAS. They will also be appearing on Friday 9th June at the Music in My Head event in The Hague
MADCHESTER ... It looks like 2 of the most influential bands from this period are set to play gigs in the summer! - INSPIRAL CARPETS and HAPPY MONDAYS have both announced live dates: The INSPIRALS return on Friday 23rd June to play a one off gig at Tokyo Project in Oldham (GB) when they will delight all their fans with a blistering 75 minute greatest hits set. It will be the first time they play in Oldham again in over 10 years.
Inspiral Carpets shot to the forefront of the alternative music scene in the late 80`s, became one of John Peel`s favourite bands and went onto deliver a bucket load of hit indie singles and 4 great albums, of which "Revenge of the Goldfish" (1993) is still seen today as one of the most influential alternative albums of the 90`s. Tickets have already gone on sale for the HAPPY MONDAYS, which is being held at the Liverpool Academy on June 2nd. This gig is the first for them since the indie legends played a series of shows during last year. They are also set to play a gig at the AMSTERDAM Melkweg on Wednesday 12th July. The band who used to have a deal with Factory Records were featured in the recent film "24 Hour Party People" (for more info on this film go to Dutch language link at: http://www.moviemeter.nl/film/5387 )

SONIC YOUTH - Rather Ripped - Their new album is released on 5th June and is available on Geffen Records.

THE DELAYS - new single "Hideaway" out in May on Rough Trade, taken from their album "You See Colours". Available on CD, enhanced CD and 7" vinyl. They will also be playing a few gigs in NL later this month (see our Gigs & Festivals 2006 section) and making an in-store appearance at Velvet Record Shop in Delft on Thursday 18th May (18:00hrs).

We have just heard (wednesday 3rd May) that INSPIRAL CARPETS may be playing a one off concert over in the UK on 23rd June! - more news to follow...

THE CONCRETES come from Sweden and their new album "Concretes in Colour" is available on the Licking Fingers label. They have made an album that sounds like a combination of mid 90`s bands Mazzy Star and Bettie Serveert. Not exactly new then, but anything influenced by Mazzy Star is always welcome. The Concretes previous self titled album from 2004 is available on EMI REcords.

The Re-mastered & Expanded Versions of "The Scream" (1978), "Join Hands" (1979), "Kaleidoscope" (1980) & "JuJu" (1981) will also include various re-mixes and previously unreleased songs.
