FOR TIPS ON RECENT ALBUM RELEASES GO TO
FEBRUARY - 2009

MUSIC NEWS: Some of you have contacted us to point out that there hasn`t been much "News" this month. Maybe this is because if you take away all the nonsense that most music publications have been writing about lately the simple truth is that there hasn`t been that much "news about the actual music" worth reporting about! - In fact, we would go as far as to say that since last summer the majority of press that has been spouted out by these pr companies getting paid by the record companies and artists is just predictable and in a word: boring. Too many bands who are sub standard but who keep getting their names mentioned in the mainstream press, or their drab uninspiring singles played on prime time radio shows in an attempt to con the public into thinking that they are the bright new things! It is absolute bollocks and ironic that in a time when internet allows people to search for the things that they like, too much time is spent using the internet to actually look up a lot of the crap that an NME or OOR (Dutch music magazine) tell people about. Some of these bands are worth checking out but far too often they are plugging bands who are fully paid up members of the press machine (how much is it these days to get the name of your band featured on the front cover of the NME?) and therefore the chance of you finding out about a lot of promising or exciting bands out there becomes more limited than before we took the internet for granted. When are people going to realize that the majority of stories or features out there are usually rehashed stories that all stem from the same source where it is obvious that nobody has even bothered to check the validity of that story?! - So rather than just follow all the other online publications and write about ... recycled drabness, we decided to list some of the current artists and bands who are out there and who have recently released a new album worthy of your attention, or are about to release a new album as 2009 gets under way. All we can say is, use your ears, use your head, give them a proper listen, and try not to be swayed by by what the paid press tell you! Here at AAPA we don`t get paid, we don`t get freebies, and we don`t accept bribes ... we just tell it as it is. Rather than go for image over content, the entire AAPA website is about the actual info and not just a pretty layout and copying and translating other peoples stories! Thankfully there are still plenty of decent and promising new bands out there (some new, some have been around for a while, some haven`t even got a record deal yet): BROKEN RECORDS - THE HUMAN VALUE (photo) - FILM NOIR WORLD - CHATELAINE - THE FUTUREHEADS - KID BRITISH - BAT FOR LASHES - THE WEEK THAT WAS - ENTER SHIKARI - DOLPHIN BOY - WHITE LIES - THE COURTEENERS - PASSION PIT - LAURA MARLING - iLiKETRAiNS - PARIS MOTEL - KARIMA FRANCIS - RED LIGHT COMPANY - PEARL AND THE PUPPETS and THE BEEP SEALS just to name a few, but are all worth checking out. Some were already featured in our NEW BANDS section months, if not years, ago, while others have already been included ages ago in our MONTHLY PLAYLIST of which some are now finally beginning to break through! Better still, don`t just take our word for it. You can also listen to selected tracks by the majority of these artists by going through AAPA MySpace to their own sites.
