BAT FOR LASHES (aka Natasha Khan) returns with a brand new album entitled "Two Suns" in April which has been described as having a heavy '80s synth-pop influence, pitched somewhere between Goldfrapp's 'Seventh Tree', and PJ Harvey's 'White Chalk' albums. There will also be a UK tour to coincide in April, with a 15 date European Tour starting from May, which will include two dates in the Benelux region (Brussels on 15th May and Amsterdam on 16th May), and her first live dates over here since she supported RADIOHEAD as their special guest last summer on their sold out European tour. There is an interview with Natasha in the next edition of British style magazine Dazed & Confused (issue 170 - out on 23rd January) while you can have a listen to selected tracks by going through AAPA MySpace to her own site. Her new album "Two Suns" will be released on Parlophone Rcords and is the follow up to her 2007 Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album "Fur And Gold" (Echo Records), and is expected to hit all good record shops on 6th April. Later this month (January 2009), Rhino UK will be releasing the 4 CD compilation album FACTORY RECORDS: Communications 1978-92 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Factory, Manchester's most well known record label. The Factory name was first used for a club featuring local bands including The Durutti Column and Joy Division. The first album on the label was Joy Division's 'Unknown Pleasures', which produced the hit single 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'. Lead singer Ian Curtis tragically committed suicide, but the rest of the band renamed themselves New Order. In 1981 Factory and New Order converted a former yacht showroom in the centre of Manchester into The Hacienda nightclub. This compilation album on 4 CDs has a very similar track listing to the Factory Records release entitled "PALATINE: The Factory Story 1979 - 1990" from november 1991, which was then available on 4 CDs, 4x vinyl, or on 4 cassettes. This new release should be out in all good record shops from 12th or 19th January depending on country.
